Food Processing Trade Mission to U.K.

Goa State Industries Association (GSIA) organized a Trade Delegation to U.K. Food Processing and Packaging Machinery Trade Fair at Birmingham from 28th September 2009 – 06th October 2009. The mission was organized jointly with Processing and Packaging Machinery Association(PPMA), U.K. & UK Trade and Investment (UKTI) with support from British Business Group(BBG),Goa.

The purpose of the mission was to promote Goa as a serious commercial option for U.K. Business and investigate the opportunities available to the delegates in the U.K. to purchase machinery and gain technical expertise to enhance the business activities in Goa and to present Goa as destination for Food Processing Industry to U.K.

Food Processing industry is in a very nascent stage in Goa and inspite of the Schemes and incentives announced by the Union Government and inspite of the keen interest taken by the Minister Mr. Subodh Kant Sahai Goa has not been able to give a substantial boost to this sector in Goa.

This Trade Mission by GSIA is intended as an initiative by GSIA to contribute to the growth of Food Processing industries in Goa, to promote Goa as viable destination for foreign investors, to assist the government to assess the opportunities for technical upgradation and investment possibilities in the sector in Goa and to generate employment opportunities in Goa.
